Sips and Tips for Achhoo!

Ok I’m drowning in vicious seasonal allergies this morning, and I really don’t want to take any medications. My only options is some fresh juice to help me deal with this ordeal that comes with sinus pain, itchy eyes, miserable pressure headaches (and Claritin-D pill popping is no fun). But guess what, drinking fresh juices and smoothies is!
Getting a nice dose of live enzymes and healthy nutrients from fruits and veggies is my at-home wellness tip for anyone who is"Achoo-ing" themselves into misery.

Superfoods. There's obviously no cure for seasonal allergies. But you can test and try out a few of these flavors and ingredients and see if they ease your allergy symptoms at all. The idea is that healthy foods are healing foods. Some healing foods for allergies include apples, blueberries, grapes, mangoes, oranges, raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, beets, carrots, onions, red and green bell peppers, spinach and watercress.

Juicing pineapple rather than eating it raw is an ideal way of ensuring the enzyme gets absorbed easily and faster into your body.

Ginger’s healing power works on multiple levels.  It counters a host of different allergy symptoms. Ginger is a natural antihistamine, so it relieves allergy problems centered in the sinuses. Since it also has anti-inflammatory properties, it reduces the achy feeling that may accompany allergy attacks. If your allergy attacks include digestive disorders, ginger calms the stomach.

Turmeric is a powerful root that is related to ginger. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric. It stimulates the body’s natural anti-inflammatory fighters. When regularly consumed, the curcumin in turmeric acts as a natural antihistamine and antioxidant for chronic hives, inflammatory skin ailments, and allergic reactions.

Local  raw honey has the ability to reduce allergies or get rid of them all together. If you know what causes your allergies to flare up, your body can build a tolerance to it if you consume local honey from that specific plant source.

Raw organic apple cider vinegar is excellent during allergy season as well. Taking a tablespoon of raw, organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) every morning — before going outside – works by blocking our body’s histamine reaction and it reduces inflammation.

Vitamin C is one of nature’s great wonders. In addition to being a natural antihistamine, this vitamin has a multitude of other functions in the body; it’s a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals.

My go-to allergy drinks that I make during allergy season are Ginger Lemon Turmeric Raw Honey Tea, followed by Pineapple Ginger Mint  Juice, and Apple Cider Vinegar and Raw Honey Tea.

Stay green and healthy
