I love pomegranate and they are all over the farm market, and if you are looking for ideas on what to do with them, how about including them in a smoothie?
Pomegranates add a rich flavor that blends especially well with chocolate (cacao), apple, pear and other seasonal fruits. They also supply an extra dose of disease-preventing antioxidants. Pomegranates are antioxidant-rich super fruits just waiting to be enjoyed every late-fall and winter. Pomegranate juice has been the subject of many scientific and clinical studies over the years. Preliminary research is showing a lot of promise for this super food.
Here's a couple ways to add them to your smoothies
Super Blast Smoothie
1/2 cup fresh pomegranate seeds
100 grams of frozen acai berry puree
1/2 cup blueberries
1 banana, peeled
8 ounces of unsweetened almond milk
Add the liquid to your blender, followed by the soft fruit. Blend on high until the smoothie is creamy.
This smoothie is also a rich source of many antioxidants, vitamin B3, B5, B6, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium and zinc.
Pomegranate-Mango Green coconut Smoothie
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
1 mango, peeled and pitted1 scoop matcha powder
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
Add the liquid to your blender , followed by the soft fruit. Add the greens to your blender last. Blend on high until the smoothie is creamy.

Pomegranate juice will contain slightly more calories, a lot more vitamin C, no protein or fat and a much higher concentration of antioxidants.
How To Select And Store Pomegranates
Pomegranates are in season during the fall and winter months. Look for pomegranates that are heavy for their size. The color should be deep red or reddish brown.
Store pomegranates in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 weeks. Pomegranate seeds can be frozen.
