Turmeric: you skin will thank you for this. Turmeric is the trendy new nutritional supplement. This root is an anti-inflammatory powerhouse.
Turmeric, Orange and Carrot Tonic
5 inches fresh turmeric, peeled
1 orange peeled
2 carrots, peeled
Directions: Place turmeric, oranges, and carrots in a blender,add 1 cup of cold water. Blend until completely puréed. Drink immediately.
Mushrooms: There’s a new type of tea showing up at your health food store, and healthy cafes, and it’s not exactly plucked from leafy fields, it’s mushroom. Since mushrooms don’t come in pretty leaf form, their active components are made into powder, which comes in tea bags or in a pouch like a sugar packet, which you can pour into hot water (or smoothies or coffee) and stir to dissolve.
Chaga Chai
1 cup strong hot chaga tea
1 tsp raw coconut cream
1 cinnamon stick
3-4 Allspice Berries
7 Cardamom Pods
6 Black Peppercorns
1-2 Star Anise
1/4 Tsp Ground Ginger
Pinch of Nutmeg Powder
Pinch of Vanilla Powder
Pinch of Himalayan Salt
1 Tbsp Raw Honey
Crushed Dried Rosebuds (optional)
In a medium sized pan, toast the cinnamon stick, allspice berries, cardamom pods and peppercorns over medium heat until fragrant. Transfer the toasted spices to a small pot, adding the clove, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt. Cover with a splash of almond milk, set aside to infuse for ten minutes. Once infused, add the hot chaga tea, turning up the heat on the burner to allow the tea to simmer gently. Strain the spices out, add the rest of the almond milk and remove from the heat. Stir in the raw honey, then divide between two mugs. Top each mug off with a teaspoon of coconut cream and crushed rosebuds.
Apple cider vinegar
Think of apple cider vinegar as the cross-trainer of your pantry; when it comes to health benefits, it's super-versatile, addressing joint pain, digestive troubles, and sleep issues just to name a few. The raw form is also said to help balance pH levels and promote alkalinity.
- 1-2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 apple or ¼ cup apple juice
- 1 tsp of fresh ground ginger
- ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 8 ounces of water or sparkling water
INSTRUCTIONS
pour the apple juice into a large glass and using a microplane, grate a tiny bit of ginger into the glass. Add the apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, honey, and water and stir to combine.
