I love using healing clay's and lately I’ve been obsessed with this one, Rhassoul Clay. This natural clay from Morocco is incredible for skin and hair and is inexpensive.
What is Rhassoul Clay?
Rhassoul Clay is an outstanding naturally found reddish brown cosmetic clay that originates from Morocco. It is also known by the names Red Clay, Red Moroccan Clay, Ghassoul Clay and Oxide Clay. Rhassoul clay is organically mined from ancient deposits deep within the Morocco Atlas Mountains. Rhassoul contains high levels of skin-healing silica, potassium and magnesium. It is formed as a result of natural geothermal processes and volcanic activity.
Here are some of the advantages:
- Completely non-irritating to skin and scalp
- Cleans skin and hair without removing all of its protective sebum
- Leaves hair soft and shiny and enhances its volume
- Removes dandruff and eases problems of excessively oily hair
When it comes to hair care, Rhassoul is perfectly natural and uncomplicated.
Here’s how I make my own Rhassoul Clay Hair Mask. I mix the following in a non-metal bowl:
- 2 tbsp Rhassoul clay
- 1 tsp Honey
- 2 tsp EVOO
- 1tsp Hot Water
Directions For Use:
For the hair: Apply the paste throughout the hair & scalp. Then wrap hair with warm/hot towel for 20 – 30 minutes. Rinse until water runs clean. Follow-up with a natural conditioner, if preferred. (Note: when adding water You will need to compensate for the enormous absorbency of the clay as the addition of the water will cause substantial thickening. Keep adding water until formulation turns to a usable paste.)
Face Scrub: Rhassoul can also be combined with other ingredients to make an exfoliating and smoothing scrub. My favorite is mixing 1 Tablespoon Rhassoul clay with 1 Tablespoon ground oatmeal and apple cider vinegar to form a paste. I use about once a week for an exfoliating face scrub. As a bonus, it can be massaged into the face to exfoliate for 1-2 minutes and then left for another 5 minutes to dry before washing off. This will offer the benefits of a mask and an exfoliation in one step.
Rhassoul is an exquisite spa quality mineral-rich clay from Morocco. It’s quite different from other cleansing clays, being exceptionally gentle and beneficial even for dry hair and sensitive skin and scalp conditions. Lavaerde, is a mineral rich clay which was deposited in the sea millions of years ago. The source of this unique clay is to be found deep beneath the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Do Not Refrigerate. Store in a Cool Dry Place Before Use.
